Introduction

Background
For the assessment and judgement of the nutritional status, information about body composition is necessary. The last years there is an enormous development of new techniques to assess body composition in vivo. Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA), CT and MRI imaging and bio-electrical impedance are examples. Although principles, validity and applications are published in a number of papers, there may be a need to get more insight in several aspects of these new techniques. Knowledge about principles, assumptions and validity is important to adequately apply body composition techniques in different types of studies or for patient 'monitoring'.

Target group
Persons interested in attending this course should have a graduate level in health sciences, human nutrition sciences or a comparable level.
