Background and target group
The course Functional Metagenomics of the Intestinal Tract and Food-Related Microbes aims to provide a state of the art description of our insight in the diversity, activity and function of the microbial communities that are involved in industrial and other food fermentations as well as present in our intestinal tract. Moreover, attention will be given to microbes that may increase the quality of life including those marketed as probiotics or have an negative effect, such as those involved in food spoilage or cause disease.
The course is aiming for PhD students and Post-Doctoral scientists while also non-academic participants are welcomed as ample opportunity is provided to interact with the expert speakers.

Course fee
The course fee includes printed material, lunches, coffee/tea, dinners during the course but does not include accommodation.

Registration
VLAG PhD students at Wageningen University should register using the VLAG registration form. Note that you must indicate "VLAG PhD student" on the registration form to apply for a grant.

Grants
Application for VLAG travel grant is closed
VLAG grants include:
* air ticket (maximum of 300 euro)
The grants do NOT include:
* the hotel cost (approximately 200 euro pp for a twin room for 3 nights (21-24th September))
* taxi costs or train tickets
* personal costs
If a grant is allocated to you, you will receive a reimbursement form. Send the form, including ticket and invoice of the hotel within one week after return to Ingeborg van Leeuwen-Bol, VLAG, Bode 184.
