 Professor Erik van der Linden new Programme Director Sensory & Structure at TIFN
Top Institute Food and Nutrition (TIFN) announces the appointment of Professor Erik van der Linden as Programme Director Sensory & Structure effective 1 September 2010. He succeeds Dr. Harmen de Jongh who has been Interim Director since December 2009.
Erik will combine this new appointment at TIFN with his position as Professor of Food Physics and Physical Chemistry of Foods in Wageningen University and Research Centre. read more
 Professor Ivonne Rietjens elected as new member of the KNAW
The annual election of the KNAW (The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences) takes place based on academic performance, on recommendation of the academic community. Members of the Academy are leading scientists, working in all areas of scientific research. "It is special to belong to this elected group of scientist and it is a recognition of my work", says Ivonne, who is professor of Toxicology at WU and member of the VLAG Board.  Dr. Ir. Vitor Martins dos Santos new Professor of Systems and Synthetic Biology
As from September 2009 Vitor Martins Dos Santos is appointed as the new full chair professor is the rapidly developing field of systems and synthetic biology in the agro-food area. Systems and Synthetic Biology is part of Food & Biobased Research of WU. ( visit Food & Biobased Research)

Finally we have unpacked, recovered from the jetlag (again!), downloaded and shared pictures, and told our stories at the coffee corner. Our PhD trip to the USA is finished, and we have time to look back and reflect about what we had experienced 'across the pond'. read more
Food Physics Japan, 10 - 22 April 2010
 On the 10th of April, finally the day arrived. The PhD students from the Food Physics group went to Japan for a PhD trip, accompanied by the staff members.
This trip was intended as an experience with scientific, cultural and social aspects. It was an opportunity for PhD students to get in contact with colleagues from another part of the world and exchange experiences. Also we increased and exchanged knowledge, established new contacts and explored future collaborations.
