In this position, you will manage financial and sustainability data for trawlers and other fishing vessels for the Business Information Network (BIN). As an assistant, you will have a supporting role and help our administrative staff deliver a complete economic report per vessel. This position is interesting as a stepping stone to the role of administrative employee in the fishing industry or as a part-time job for students pursuing studies in the agricultural or financial-economic fields. The location for this position is The Hague.

The Business Information Network (www.wur.nl/bedrijveninformatienet) is a network of approximately 1,500 agricultural and horticultural businesses, 100 trawlers and other vessels active in fishing, and 150 forestry businesses. Within Wageningen Economic Research, about 65 administrative employees maintain this network.

As a fisheries administrative assistant, you will record financial and sustainability data of Dutch trawlers in our database. Your tasks mainly consist of entering and processing data on fishing trips, catches/revenues, crew shares, fuel, etc. You will derive this information from (digital) invoices from suppliers and buyers, central databases, or information provided by the fisherman.

Your qualities

  • a diploma in Practical Accounting (PDB). Or you are currently pursuing studies in the agricultural or financial-economic field at, for example, HAS or WUR and are looking for a part-time job;
  • you have an affinity with/knowledge of the fishing sector;
  • you are proficient with computers and preferably have experience with digital accounting systems and/or financial automation processes;
  • you possess good communication skills, are helpful and flexible, and can work well independently;
  • you work accurately, have an eye for detail, and are numerically proficient.

  • Full-time (36 hours) or part-time work (minimum 12 hours per week for a period of 6 months);

These excellent secondary employment conditions come with a competitive salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a market-conform salary ranging from a minimum of € 2,496 to a maximum of € 3,365 for a full 36-hour work week in accordance with the CAO Wageningen Research (scale 6). If you do not yet fully meet the job requirements, a starting scale of 5 may apply.

You will receive an employment contract through an employment agency.
