Ellen Mangnus & Marc Broere about the huge budget cuts on International Development Cooperation
Ellen Mangnus and Marc Broere wrote an opinion piece in the Dutch newspaper 'Volkskrant' about the huge budget cuts on International Development Cooperation.
Ellen comments: Marc Broere and I observe that development organizations are defending themselves with arguments about why development cooperation is so important, even in our own interests. However, the real motivation behind these budget cut, we state, is the government's desire to silence critical opposition. Therefore, development organizations should no longer beg for support, but instead, they should unite to form broad counterpower and stand up against this government.
