Wageningen Model and Data Day 2024: A Hub of Innovation and Insight in Data and Modeling
Last October, Wageningen Model and Data Day 2024 gathered over 200 scientists, data enthusiasts, and modeling experts for a day packed with inspiring presentations, hands-on workshops, and valuable networking opportunities. This event offered both newcomers and professionals in data and modeling a unique chance to exchange knowledge and gain fresh insights.
Speakers from various fields shared the latest developments on topics like machine learning, IT services, best modeling practices, software policy, and data management. Their presentations provided participants with actionable ideas and practical knowledge to apply directly to their work. Presentation slides are now available for anyone looking to revisit these insights.
One of the day’s highlights was keynote speaker Richard Harrison (director WUR Plant Sciences Group), who captivated the audience with his talk on “the potential of sharing and stacking individual datasets to drive new scientific discoveries.” His vision on data integration left a deep impression and sparked lively discussions among attendees.
At the information market, participants explored diverse stands hosted by 4TU.ResearchData, SURF, WUR Library, the WUR Open Science Community, and the Model Gallery. Here, they gained insights into open science, data sharing, and innovative research tools to enhance scientific work.
WUR’s Rector Magnificus, Carolien Kroeze, closed the event by launching the new Guidelines on Model Management. She highlighted “the importance of scientific models in addressing societal challenges.”
A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of Wageningen Model and Data Day 2024! Watch the aftermovie below, and see you all again next year!
