Vacancy

We are Hiring -for- Students Support Students

Wageningen University & Research has set up an online platform for students who require additional support. This could include students with neurodivergence (AD(H)D, ASD, etc.), chronic illnesses, disabilities, or an informal caregiving role, among other things, that could hinder their participation in education.

The 'Students Support Students' platform enables students to get in touch with each other and helps them to navigate WUR and student life. By bringing together all the fragmented information in one place, we hope to make the university more accessible.

Help moderate and improve the platform

We are looking for an enthusiastic student to help moderate and further improve the platform. As this project is still in its infancy, there is plenty of potential for your creative input. In this role, you will be guided by the Programme Lead for Student Wellbeing and one of the Student Deans.

We particularly encourage students with additional needs to apply, and are happy to discuss how best to accommodate you in this role.

Your tasks

  • Scheduling meetings, taking minutes, managing the inbox
  • Organising and hosting activities and focus groups
  • Talking with staff members
  • Collaborating to promote awareness
  • Being the link between the student platform and the WUR
  • Moderating the platform
  • Advocating for the voice of the students on the platform towards the WUR

What are we looking for?

  • Compassion, empathy and patience: You will be the first point of contact for students on the platform
  • Integrity: You need to have a good moral compass to be able to deal with sensitive information
  • Communication skills: You will be in contact with other students and WUR staff and will work in a team of three students
  • Affinity with online support
  • Flexibility: your tasks will be diverse and change over time, from improving the platform to maintaining it
  • Proficiency in English is required; Dutch is a plus

Availability

You work at the office, on campus and online. The hours are flexible: mostly around 2-4 hours per week. You can start as soon as possible and are available for a minimum of 1 year.

What do we offer?

• Being part of a WUR team
• Expanding your skills
• A student-assistant contract (see terms CAO-NU)
