PhD excursions
VLAG stimulates PhD candidates to take charge of diversifying their training and provides financial support for it. In this context, organising an excursion to research facilities abroad is an important ‘fact finding’ activity with a long tradition. The PhD excursions are organised by a committee of PhD candidates.
PhD candidates receiving the grant have an approved VLAG Training and Supervision Plan (TSP). For PhD excursions lasting up to 8 days we provide each PhD candidate with a grant of € 250. For longer trips the grant amounts to € 400. Each PhD candidate receives the VLAG support max. twice.
Conditions:
- A motivation including well-argued additional value of the excursion, a draft program, and a budget (estimated costs and income incl. sponsoring)
- Scientific staff (thesis supervisors) are committed and will accompany the PhD candidates
- The organisers send a ‘back to office’ report to VLAG
For additional sponsoring please also consider the LEB Foundation
