Masterclass “Nutrition and Cancer: from Bench to Bed to Behaviour"
The goals of this masterclass are
* Globally connect people working on Nutrition and Cancer
* Share the latest insights on Nutrition and Cancer from biology, epidemiology to the clinic and public health.
Background and purpose
The topic of 2019’s Masterclass Nutrition and Cancer will be ‘from Bench to Bed to Behaviour.’ Together with an international panel of speakers and experts, we aim for a multidisciplinary approach ranging from biology, epidemiology to the clinic and public health. This will be the third Masterclass on Nutrition and Cancer organized by Wageningen University and VLAG Graduate School in collaboration with WCRF international and the Wereld Kanker Onderzoeksfonds. The course format is designed to be highly interactive, with ample time for stimulating discussions, interdisciplinary interactions, and meetings alongside the scientific sessions.
The World Cancer Research Fund offered six scholarship positions covering the course fee (based on abstract selection). The six candidates are selected.
Target group
The international Masterclass is at a postgraduate level and aims at professionals from various fields (nutritionists, epidemiologists, health promotors, physicians, health policy makers, nutrition educators, biologists and food scientists) interested in the topic. The course may be of specific use for PhD students and postdocs working in this field.
Course aim

• Share the latest insights on Nutrition and Cancer from biology, epidemiology to the clinic and public health.
Course format
The main themes will be introduced by a selected number of invited speakers of international reputation. A significant number of slots will be available for oral presentations, oral flash presentations as well as poster presentations. The posters will be on display throughout the course and a poster session will be organized. The Scientific Committee will select oral and poster presentations based on submitted abstracts.

Date & duration & language
The Masterclass will be held from Monday Evening 4 February 2019 till Wednesday 6 February 2019, 2.5 days and will be conducted in English.
Study load
The study load of this masterclass is 0.7 ECTS = 18 hours.
The study load including an abstract and poster presentation will be 1.2 ECTS = 32 hours.

Paricpants are encourage to submit an abstract for a poster presentation.

* Mark in the subject of your email NC19-oral presentation or NC19-poster presentation to indicate your preferences. A committee will decide if your abstract will be allocated for an oral or poster.

Location & accommodation
Lectures will be given at Wageningen International Conference Center (WICC) and at Wageningen University & Research.
The town of Wageningen is 5 km from Ede-Wageningen railway station, with transport options being taxi or bus. Ede-Wageningen railway station is about one and a half hours from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. For train schedules visit: www.ns.nl.
A number of hotel rooms have been blocked at the (WICC). Accommodation costs are €69 (single room, incl. breakfast), €74.50 (twin room, single use incl. breakfast) per night. World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) International Fellowships
Six fellowships from the WCRF International will be available for outstanding applicants from any country. A CV and recommendation letter from your current employer or supervisor should accompany the application/registration explaining your suitability for the course and how you will benefit from the fellowship. Seperately, an abstract should be submitted as well.
Applicants applying for these fellowships should be aware that their application/registration form, abstract, CV and recommendation letter will be passed on to WCRF International.
Course fee
Course fee includes course material (electronical), coffee/tea during breaks, lunches and one dinner but does not cover accommodation. The course fee depends on the participant's affiliation:
