14 October 2024 - category_news - The 2024 Food Systems Innovation Challenge concluded with Fruitastic 5 from Uganda winning the top prize of €5,500 for their creative approach to reducing food waste. The team developed a method to transform overripe jackfruits into nutritious snacks, extending the fruit’s shelf life while promoting healthy eating and boosting economic benefits for local farmers and vendors. -
Nature-based Future Challenge: the winning team designed context-specific solutions
11 June 2024 - category_news - The jury commended Team Delta Harmonics for tackling the complex problems of the Bangladesh River Delta at the root by focusing on the upstream region. The team competed with ten other international student teams and won the first prize of € 9000. -

Teams announcement Food Systems Innovation Challenge
22 May 2024 - category_news - In the Food System Innovation Challenge, 18 teams from 9 different universities have been selected to implement their innovative solutions in the food systems through their project. With mentoring from experts in the field and funding (up to 2500 euro), they are working on their projects starting from April until September 2024, with the Grand Finals on 30 September 2024 on Wageningen Campus. Dr. ir. Sjoukje Heimovaara, President of the Executive Board of Wageningen University & Research, announced the first physical hub for the Youth Food Lab at WUR.
