Low-dairy mozzarella team from New Zealand winner of QING Innovation Track
24 September 2021 - category_news - Five teams from Kenya, Peru, Nepal and New Zealand made it out of thirty-five teams to the finals with their innovative projects on Climate Adaptation in Food Systems. On September 22 they pitched their ideas to a jury, followed by an inspiring panel discussion on hurdles and future opportunities with representatives from industry and NGO’s. -
Close calls and online celebrations at grand finale of the ReThink Protein Challenge
30 June 2021 - category_news - The wait is finally over for teams participating in the ReThink Protein Challenge ’2. On Friday 25 June, the jury announced the winners of this thrilling edition of the Student Challenges. A tense build-up, including video pitches by the twelve remaining teams, finished with a first place for team Algo in the Ideation category and team Cultivated in the Prototyping category. -
Yeast-produced milk-fat alternative wins the Rethink Protein Student Challenge #2
25 June 2021 - category_news - Team ‘Cultivated’ won the Grand Finale of the Rethink Protein Challenge with their dairy-fat alternative produced with precision yeast fermentation. They won in the most demanding category, Prototyping, and were awarded the prize money of €6000. ‘AlgO’ won in the Ideation category with their idea to cultivate micro-algae on waste-streams. They were awarded €3000. Both teams will also receive professional support to further develop their projects for real impact on the world protein supply. -

Food Supply Chain app wins Cornell digital ag hackathon
11 March 2021 - category_news - An app that would maximize profit and minimize food spoilage and loss across the agriculture supply chain was named the grand prize winner in the third annual Cornell Institute for Digital Agriculture (CIDA) Hackathon. The event, held virtually March 5-7, brought together 176 students from 32 teams representing five of the world’s top agriculture faculties for a 36-hour hackathon.
