Advanced Course Microscopy and Spectroscopy in Food and Plant Sciences
EPS-VLAG Course: The course will cover the theory behind several advanced microscopic and micro-spectroscopic techniques that have a wide range of applications in both the Food and Plant Sciences.
Introduction
The MicroSpectroscopy Research Facility and the Wageningen Light Microscopy Centre of Wageningen University organize a VLAG & EPS funded advanced practical course for postdocs and PhD candidates. The course will cover the theory and practice of several advanced microscopic and micro-spectroscopic techniques that have a wide range of applications in both the Food and Plant Sciences. We give an overview of sample preparation and imaging techniques available.
Target group
PhD candidates and postdocs, maximum of 24 participants*
*If there are more applicants than places the selection will be based on your microscopy needs.
The following topics will be addressed during the lectures with examples of application in Food and Plant sciences: light and fluorescent microscopy, (point scanning- and spinning disk-) confocal microscopy, 3D Imaging, Fluorescence spectroscopy, Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) imaging, Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM), Fuji- based image analysis, , time- and spectrally resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF), multiphoton- and super resolution- imaging.
The training during this course will be in the form of group assignments and demonstrations of advanced imaging methods. The course allows to better understand and select microscopy methods that answer your research question. For additional individual training after this course, we welcome you at the MicroSpectroscopy Research Facility and the Wageningen Light Microscopy Centre.
