The VLAG Graduate School was founded in 1993 to provide a coherent PhD programme for young researchers and to bring together the expertise in its multidisciplinary domain.
VLAG forms a community of research within the Biobased, Biomolecular, Food and Nutrition Sciences. VLAG consists of the researchers and research groups from Wageningen University (WU) and five major institutes for applied research in The Netherlands: NIZO food research, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), TNO, Wageningen Food & Biobased Research* and Wageningen Food Safety Research* (*part of Wageningen University & Research).
VLAG's two major tasks are:
- to provide its PhD candidates with a research and education programme of academic excellence
- to provide added value to its programme by funding research projects and by acquiring external funding for large-scale multidisciplinary research projects
The administrative headquarters of the graduate school is at Wageningen University & Research, where it is one of the six graduate schools at this university.
to develop the careers of young researchers and to promote research collaboration in Biobased, Biomolecular, Food and Nutrition Sciences.
