VLAG Open Rounds

The VLAG Open Rounds are only meant for Wageningen University research groups and research institutes participating in the Graduate School.

The 14th VLAG Open Round will open in 2020.

Call for VLAG Graduate Programme 2021

The VLAG Graduate Programme involves the funding of two PhD positions and aims to stimulate talented MSc students of Wageningen University to do a PhD within one of the VLAG groups. Applications are written and submitted by candidates who have obtained or will obtain a Wageningen MSc degree between June 2020 and December 2021. The PhD candidate and his/her project must be embedded in one of the VLAG groups and thus in VLAG.

If you would like to participate in the VLAG Graduate Programme, please send your application to the executive secretary of VLAG, Anouk Geelen before 17 January 2021.

Only selected candidates can submit a full PhD proposal for the VLAG Graduate Programme, the deadline is 10 May 2021.


The research groups from Wageningen University participating in the Graduate School VLAG can submit a request for a subsidy for incoming sabbaticals.


  • The candidate should be a senior scientist (minimum Associate Professor).
  • The candidate has not been employed by WU, or spent a research period longer than a week in Wageningen in the last 3 years.
  • The candidate should stay at Wageningen University for a continuous period of at least 3 months.

The maximum sabbatical grant per candidate amounts to € 5000,- which is based upon a monthly grant of € 1500,- (for travel and housing costs).

NWO Visitor's Travel Grant

Researchers in the Netherlands can apply for a visitor's grant for highly qualified senior researchers from abroad who hold a PhD. With this grant these researchers can stay in the Netherlands for a maximum of four months. More information to be found on the NWO webpage.
